Ferrets are tender animals, yet have their own set of tastes and preferences. The kitten food has a high content of protein, and appropriate amounts of fat and taurine which are good for ferrets. Ferret food does not contain antioxidants which is another advantage of kitten food. Quality of the food is very important when you are feeding your pet. Sometimes even normal ferret food does not have the right diet supplements because of low awareness. Ferrets are usually fine with cat food except that the quality should be high and the owner should be well aware of what he or she is feeding the ferrets with.
If you are feeding your ferret cat food, you must realize that there should be at least 33% protein content in it along with at least 15% fat. The fiber content should however be less than 3% to keep the ferret happy and healthy. Cat food is cheaper than ferret food. The other advantage is that because it is dry, cat food can be stored for longer periods of time.
